Location: Victor, NY
As a buyer for our procurement team, this position will support our Victor Construction Division and Power
Group, playing a critical role in purchasing materials, equipment, supplies and services for our project
management teams to effectively and efficiently support customers across New York State and regions of
the Northeast.

We are looking for strong critical thinkers to coordinate purchase requisitions, issue and analyze quote
and bid requests, and act as a liaison between our Project Managers and vendors.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Manage transactional and tactical purchases
  •  Work with project managers and estimators in obtaining competitive bid pricing
  • Write and distribute RFQ’s for commodity, utility transmission & distribution, and substation materials
    required for specific projects
  • Negotiate and procure construction, utility transmission & distribution, and substation materials and
    services for multiple jobs in multiple locations
  • Ensure materials are acquired at the lowest cost while considering quality, reliability, and urgency
  • Review requisition and delivery receipts for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
  • • Manage freight claims and product return/credit process
  • Attend weekly conference call with the Power Group – PM Labor & Equipment Meeting
  • Work with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices
    and directly with vendors to resolve invoice disputes
  • Assist with maintaining material certification, insurance certificates, confidentiality agreements,
    submittal packages, O&M documentation and other relevant company and/or project documents


  • Minimum of four years buying/selling experience in the commercial electrical and utility industry
  • Prior experience purchasing utility, line or substation materials and services
  • Ability to work from engineering documents (drawings and specifications) is desired
  • Effective communication skills with peers and field personnel both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office suite of products
  • Effective organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be able to work in a schedule-driven environment where timing is a critical function
  • Proven negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
